Bonsai distance learning school

Just thinking about an idea for the past couple of days,...ok so here it is,...a bonsai school, done through distance learning.
There could be a whole curriculum put together to teach most aspects of botony and esign involved with creating bonsai.
I would deffinately need to get some "masters" involved to accept emails from students, and help build the teaching materials.
Tuition could cover a few tools some wire and then a list of books could be given to students to get things rolling,...then there would be assignments, to be carried out in a certain amount of time,...and completed with pictures being sent to the teachers of whatthe student has done, and to be graded as to how well the directions were carried out by the students.
Leme know how crazy you guys think I am.

Long distance is ok, but there is no substitute for hands-on learning.

On that most of us would agree. But sometimes that can be an impossible thing to get.

Try out the ABS school that Ron linked to. It is a terrific program. I have participated in it and had a great experience. You will be paired with an expert and --depending on who's participating--it might be a "name..." All the big time North American bonsaiists are usually ABS members.

While there is no substitute for hands on, programs like that one are still excellent --and available.

Most of the time the mentor is one of the ABS Board members. See http://www.absbonsai.org/board.html
This is not always true, you might wind up with one of the regular ABS members.
But like Rockm said there are some well known names amoung the ranks ;o)

Yes, Ron! I agree! I took the program many years ago, and it does give a jump start to your Bonsai knowledge as well as understanding what is going on not only below the soil and above, but what is supposed to be going on under the bark.

I highly recomment the program.
