Black spots on Black Monkey thorn
Hey to the brethren,
I was chatting to somone, some where, about some thing, when he asked me about the black spots on the fowlage on his black Monkey Thorn. I didn't know, having never herd of the plant before, I said I would check it out. Poor old Macross can't find any thing for him, so I thought I might post this topic and see if the best Bonsai minds in the world can come up with anything that cann help him? He also had a problem with the tree defoliating. The tree in mention is in South Africa if that is of any help. A delicate little tree hangs in the ballance! Please help him! Thanks, Mac |

Black spot is a well known fungus. He should remove al leaves that have fallen and spray with a fungicide. Water enough not to let it dry out totally and only the soil until it recovers.

Quote:
I am sorry ,but this is not good advice because there are very many different kinds of black spot symptoms on very many different species of trees which can be caused by different species of fungi, bacteria or viruses. Black spot is just a general term to describe symptoms that occur on leaves when they are infected by a certain pathogen. The only way to know what causes the black spots is to have a good picture of the tree and leaves where they occur and a good description of the symptoms as they develop. Sometimes it may be necessary to isolate the pathogen in a plant pathology laboratory to identify it properly. It's only after the pathogen is well identified that one can know what type of fungicide or what other protective measure that can be applied to control the disease. |

this is from AWOL loki location Benoni,South Africa she says quote tell them that it is normal for it to loose its leaves in winter if it is very cold and most often the leaves will just turn yellow and not fall off. Its normal. Its called winter.
Also the black spots are if i am correct stink bug eggs. I have them on my black monkey thorns(all my acacias actually) you can rub them off with your fingers or spray with biokill which is available at all nurserys in SA. Post a pic for me to comfirm it. Its winter and very dry so i doubt its a fungus but post a pic to be sure end quote remember to post a pic if you can |

acacias tend to lose thier leaves at least twise a seasen. This does not mean the tree is sick!often only some of the leaves fall off and the rest just dry up and look old-remove them by hand.in a couple of weeks a whole set of young leaves will shoot.P.S what kind of style are you going for there?
