Best Time To Repot A Ficus?

This is my first post so I hope I am doing this correctly. That being said, my question concerns a ficus plant I was given as a gift sometime last year. Actually it is two trees in one small pot. They are doing well and are at the point where they are in need of a repot.

My question is when is the proper time to repot a ficus? I have read somewhere (can’t remember where) that you should repot tropicals in the summer time. It is early summer here in Long Island, NY.

Also, what would be the proper soil mix (organic to inorganic.)

Thanks in advance for any help. I really like these trees and want to do my best to keep them healthy

Dunno about the best time, but this is a pretty darn good one!

Just be careful not to let the roots dry during the process, and, to be safe, put it in open shade for 2-3 weeks afterward.

Thanks Bart & jth3. Makes me a little more at ease. I did not want to repot only to watch the trees die because it was the wrong time of year.

Sounds as though you could benefit from a club.

For a list of clubs in your area, go to American Bonsai Society club list

I have been looking into joining a club. I do know of one in my area that meets at a nearby college.
Now if I can only find time....

Thanks again for your help.
