Wink Best Place to Buy Bonsai by the Pound

I know this guy is in Alabama and that other place is in Mississippi, but his prices will make you throw rawks at Martin Brussles!!!

Three years in a row-- voted best place to buy "bonsai by the pound" in Conecuh County!

looks like a lot of little junipers.
Kind of looks like they should all be sliding off of there shortly.

Funny stuff, thanks for the laugh.

LOL,this is soooo funny!!Looks just like our local van. Nothing beats the spinning tires of the mobile mallsai garden man.

Hmm,if he would slash his price by at least 15 bucks you could get some cute pots and then have seedlings for your grow bed if they weren't already all dead that is.

From my buddy that took the photo and talked to the folks on his road trip from Georgia to Texas:

"So just off the road, there's this trailer with what you see here. But the story isn't quite as simple. We think that the guy who sells these crap cuttings basically just bought into some kind of franchise. The setup is exactly the same as those that I've seen roadside in other places (including Austin). AND he's currently building a permanent enclosed space behind the trailer for more sales. Honestly the construction looked good- wooden fences and wooden benches as well as the poles to set larger individual trees on. I'd be curious as to what this turns into in a few years. When I walked up they didn't try selling me on the junipers, but on the more exotics like ficus, Brazilian rain trees, Fukien tea, various elms, and bougainvilleas (the ones up front that he's showing the guy in that photo). I was surprise he didn't only have junipers, I wonder if the 'wholesalers' who supply people like this are branching out to other species now. The other thing funny was that all around him were woods which contained trees 100% better than anything he had. If anyone were interested in bonsai they'd only have to walk to the fencerows and dig. Or this guy himself could save his $and dig a few natives himself. Anyway, got me thinking if this could possibly lead to "real" bonsai with people like this... Hmmm"

Cheers,
Jim
