Zeb, the reason for the date Well it has to start sometime, and end sometime! Sure if someone has a tree they just bought, why not... this is not a stuffy group! Nor is this a stuffy contest!

Yes, this is probably for those members who live in the Southern Hemisphere or near the equator. For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, like myself, we will have to wait till our spring in March to May depending on our area. Then as suggested we can have a second contest!

Hey, its all in fun and all for knowledge. I have enjoyed seeing what types of trees different people in different parts of this world think fit the bill.

Jay,

Thanks for clearing that up. (God, I must've sounded like a no-fun-allowed person in that last post!)

I'm really starting to like the idea.

Let's hope the members from the South have noticed this contest coming. Or should we perhaps start a new thread for the Southern Contest? Guess so. Please do.

Sincerely,
Zeb

Back to the topic

I would choose A prostrata juniper or San Jose juniper. Better trunks then a $20 pro-nana I think.

I am not even going to read past the first page... no pictures makes this one a long thread. I think that we should have a contest (I was thinking about it and then I saw rips or whomevers post {no offense, just to much info to remember}) Have each of us go buy a under $20.00 tree, of our choice, post them between now and the new year (have matt creat another contest forum for this), then in 1 year we can post the tree and show how it looks then and have a majroity wins panel. I know some people out there could make some great trees and it would allow for some of us to get in on some contests or shows, that normally we may not have access or time for. And then as a prize we could get a BonsaiTALK 1st place ribbon something like that (maybe an Icon for people who have bonsai sites of there own) say 1`st 2nd 3rd winners of the 2003 create a bonsai contest. Maybe see if matt would donate a planter or something for the tree....

Ok, I will be in, in either category nice said PDB, anyway, I'll have to take time choosing the material... But, if we will talk about the best tree for the lowest price, I bet I can win, since a 5 feet or 6 feet black pine (about 3 or 4 years old) would cost me like $5 hehehe... so, be aware...

bye..

This is a juniperus procumbens nana I will use for the contest.

I have a question about the price

If I live in Guadalajara México you would send me the pot?

(of course I need to win)
