Great googly moogly. I recently checked out GWeb again.

Traffic on the bonsai forum has slowed to a crawl, and a search of the whole site shows that many members are up in arms about the orgy of animated pop-up talking ads: http://search.gardenweb.com/search/....cgi?term=popup

On the bright side, if you pay for membership you get fewer ads. Sounds like ransom to me.

I will be sending some $ here instead.

Gday folks.

Yep... Spike ain't winning himself no friends over there. I'm amazed at the longevity of the Pop-Up thread - perhaps this is because it was posted by a well respected senior member of the Bonsai community?.. Or maybe Spike already has his hands full trying 2 manage the hundreds of other Forums over @ GW... Those pesky Topiary nerds can get a little rowdy :]

Anyway, I think he's doing himself and the Newbies a great dis-service by banning the more lively, passionate characters from posting. All he'll end up with is a boring, outmoded text-based Forum that could easily be replaced by a halfway decent FAQ page.

IMHO.

About every other message I click on and try to read sends me to iVillage.

GW is not even worth lurking at, something I did about once a month or so since I was banned back in '96.

I posted a link to Brent's site. Had a wonderful exchange with the "Heron"; such that one can with a stump.

Sounds like someone just wants to run the site into the ground. Hopefully there will be a mass exodus here, fresh blood is always nice... >
