Banned from Bonsai!
When we first started the contest here I mentioned on another forum that I was hosting the contest. A few members over at GW asked a few questions and before I knew it I had disclosed the whole deal. Fair enough as most people were members of both forums anyhow and we got some nice entrys.
Yesterday I got an email explaining that I had violated some fine print and I was effectively banned. If I offended anyone here with my actions I apoligize. Is everyone always so serious? |

The heck with the other forum. What happened doesn't seem fair or even logical. Their loss.
But I do have to say one thing about the prizes. The tool kit that I put up as a prize was for the contest on this forum. Not any other forum. The offer still stands. If you win the contest then the tool kit is yours. Free to a member of this forum. If one is not a member of this forum you can still get the tool kit. But I am afraid it won't quite be free ;o) |

My mistakes will not cause any loss to anyone. I did bring up the contest on another forum but the contest is being ran right here on this forum, nowhere else.
We may have one or two people who joined this forum in order to enter the contest, if one of them wins the prize with the tool kit, and are deemed "not a member" I will personally purchase the tool kit and award the prize. That should satisfy any concerns about the contest and prizes. Now lets have some fun! Will |

Did Yogi really say "When we cross that bridge, we'll go under it." ?
As for the membership question: Don't you have to be a member to post here? If so, if you're not a member, then you cannot enter. |

You aren't anyone unless you've been banned..
Wow, Will, you got an email? I am impressed - they must like you. I remember when I was banned (I have forgotten why, specifically) I just got a 403 error (access forbidden)
You aren't anyone until you've been banned! I haven't posted there in years but if I remember correctly, Al was variously banned, censored or whatnot for using the word bonsaiTALK and even the initials BT. Anyway, all you have to do to be a member here is register, so don't worry about that. Regards, Matt

I'm somebody now! Thanks for the smile Matt. The good news for me is that I'll be spending all my time here now, although I guess that may not be the best news for all of you. ![]() |

Sorry to hear that, Will.
What a bunch of b_______! Yep, continute something to the bonsai community with your hard work, and get yourself rewarded with a good hard kick on the backside. Little else for me to say. Cheers, Carl Edit: As for the toolkit issue, my understanding is that you have to join bonsaiTALK to be able to post pictures. And you can't win the contest without posting pictures. (I hope, anyway. If you can, it means that us competitors really screwed up.) So seems to me the contest winner is sure to be member. No worries there!

Ok, that's just plain crazy. I'm really sorry to hear that you were banned over there, Will. I pretty much stopped posting there when I started perusing this site more... the mood is lighter, I feel there is a much more varied membership, and the forum has such an incredible archive it just can't be beat. I am surely glad that the one person whose posts on that site always gave me a good giggle is now posting here, too. Still and yet, it is a shame you were banned.
In the words of the infamous Rodney King: "Can't we all just get along"? Jennifer

I think the term "forum nazi" is appropriate here. Thats crazy. Gardenweb seems like its only moderated once in a blue moon, and probably by someone who doesnt even post in the bonsai forum. I would have to assume that someone reported you, but I could be totally wrong about that.
I wanna be somebody, maybe I'll run over there and get banned. ![]() |
