bald cypress and air layering
im not sure if this is the right forum, but let's give it a try and see what happens...
i recently saw a really good cypress and was excited to find out it was a bald cypress. today, i had to take my wife out to her class (she is the teacher) towards central florida (kissimee (sp?)) amd i saw huge groves of bald cypress out there. some were obviously placed there (landscaped) but others were still wild. it was really cool to see. so now, i have a problem... i decided to go get a bald cypress today. i havent bought it yet, but i plan to get it tomorrow after going for a surf. the tree i decided to get has awesome taper, it is budding like crazy (where i would want it too), it looks really healthy, and it is (surprisingly) cheap. the problem is, the tree is like 9 feet tall. so i want to air layer it and use the base for my bonsai and the top 6 feet or so for my yard. does anyone have any experience air layering a bald cypress? actually, the more i think about it...maybe i could turn this one tree into 3 or 4... ![]()
