Bahama Berry

Hello everyone, I would like to ask about my Bahama Berry. It has a dust like thing on the underside of the leaves.I had another one in the past and thought it might be a insect and sprayed it. It finally died from either the bug spray or the bug itself.I got the magnafying glass out today with a flashlight. It's still very hard for me to see but now I have dicided that it looks like a white cottony thing maybe in a web.The very new growth does not have this.Even my newly rooted starts are developing it.Does anyone know if this plant is suseptible to getting a certain kind of insect? If so what could I use to rid this plant of the pests?Barb

Barb, it sounds like they might be either Mealy bugs or spider mites. I mix a solution of two table spoons of dish soap and two table spoons of vegetable oil to one gallon of water.
Fill a one quart spray bottle with the solution then add one table spoon of rubbing alcohol to the quart bottle.
Spray both sides of the leaves and branches as well.
Repeat in 5 to 7 days or when more of the white webs appear. This has always worked for me, good luck,...Hector

Hector, Thank you very much. I have seen mealy bugs and spider mites and these don't look like it to me.I am not to up on my bugs, that's for sure. I am going to do this treatment as I am at my wits end with this condition. You know the leaves are so small and well I am getting older and my eyes just aren't what they used to be.

Again, thank you. Barb
