Huh? Azalea Question??

Hey Guys,

Haven't posted in a good while been very busy. Well I have a big question about one of my azalea bonsais. I was bringing it into the house for its winter stay and noticed that about 50 percent of the leaves were folded into themselves. It basically looks like two hands in prayer folded together. What do you guys think could be the problem? This is a plant I purchased from a bonsai guy last season. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Are their any little animals all coddled up inside the fold? If so, could be Coddling Moth larvae. Best to open the folded leaf and pick them out.

It's praying that you don't keep it inside all winter.
Are you sure that is a good idea?
It could be many things. Lack of water/ too much sun, too much water etc.
Is there anything else you want to tell us about what kind of care it has been receiving?

Azaleas should be kept outside for the winter. They need the cold dormancy period or else they will die. Although, they should be protected from the cold winter temps and winds they will be much more vigorous is left outside, but watered. My educated guess to why the leaves are folding up on themselves is that they are accustomed to high humidity being outside and close to the ground and the low water vapor content in the air in your house is dessicating your tree
