Azalea leaf color

I have a question for anyone who has experience with this species...

Some of the leaves are beginning to get a bronzed purpleish color to them. I am wondering what the cause of this could be? Is it too much sun light?

Any help will be great!

Ryan

Leaves on azalea can go anywhere from bright green to rust to scarlet in winter time. I mean flaming scarlet. Very beautiful. Then they usually turn yellow and fall off as the new buds push out.

Azalea is not a species by the way. You don't say what type of azalea you do have but this picture might give you an idea of how red some can get:

I have had a kurume and a satsuki for two years now. Of course they are extremely prebonsai material still, but I've noticed the cold turns the kurume orange and red tones.

Thanks for the help,
Treebay, you are right. I should have used another word.

My azalea is a hybrid. Garden center variety with lots of potential.
I've been working almost exclusively with buttonwood tree's for about 6 or seven years now. Don't know much about azalea's. So thankx to everyone for the input. You can't get specific answers to specific questions in articles. God, I love this site.
