Posts: 380	Azalea leaf color I have a question for anyone who has experience with this species... Some of the leaves are beginning to get a bronzed purpleish color to them. I am wondering what the cause of this could be? Is it too much sun light? Any help will be great! tuckerg bonsaiTALK Master Join Date: Jun-2004 Country: Ireland Posts: 493	ryan,the info i could give would be off a different temperature zone to urs.here in n.europe the leaves urn a purple color before droppng for winter,but the climate diferance would be of no help in ur temp zone.

I mean flaming scarlet. Very beautiful. Then they usually turn yellow and fall off as the new buds push out. Azalea is not a species by the way. I have had a kurume and a satsuki for two years now. Of course they are extremely prebonsai material still, but I've noticed the cold turns the kurume orange and red tones.

I should have used another word. My azalea is a hybrid. Garden center variety with lots of potential. I've been working almost exclusively with buttonwood tree's for about 6 or seven years now. Don't know much about azalea's. So thankx to everyone for the input. You can't get specific answers to specific questions in articles. God, I love this site.
