One thing I noticed is the majority of the trees pictured have very interesting and nice, old looking bark. I also did not know there were so many different types of Melaleuca. Thanks for sharing! It's nice to see what folks on the other side of the globe are growing.

i think that most austrlain natives take a long time while i was looking at this site i noticed the the gum trees there were like the ones in the wild which takes a long time due to the fact that the trees are very slow growing

Gday Com & Co!

Thanks for the link - it's one of the better (only?) ones displaying Oz native trees as "show quality" Bonsai. But give it time...

I have to say that Eucalypts are not 'slow growing' as a rule. On the contrary, they can display growth rates comparable to Ficus species, given the right conditions - both in the ground and in 'captivity'. The same can be said for many of the Acacias - the Varnish Wattle (Acacia verniciflua?) we planted in 2003 is possibly the fastest growing thing I know of.

Thanks.

Fly.

It's good to see a gallery of Aus trees that isn't filled with Ficus. As much as i love them, a bit of variety is great.
