Art In Nature/Bonsai Exhibit In NY Aug. 14
The Washingtonville (NY) Arts Society is sponsoring an art in nature
show on August 14. The venue is not set yet but it will be somewhere in eastern or central Orange County, NY. The show is being underwritten by a corporate sponsor. There will be a bonsai exhibit and suiseki/viewing stones as well as art in various media which are related to nature--photography, landscape painting, etc. I'd love to hear from anyone who would like to have a tree or two in the exhibit. Only your very best trees, please! This will be the first bonsai event that I know of in the county, so we need to make a good impression. Anyone who is interested in having a tree or stone in the exhibit, or who would like to volunteer, can contact me privately at ccowing@frontiernet.net. I guess I shouldn't belabor the difference between "county" and "country," Ron. ;0)
There hasn't been much of anything for bonsai activity in Orange County. There was a nursery for awhile in Sugar Loaf, but not anymore. Y'all come! Craig Cowing NY Zone 5b/6a Sunset 37

I sometimes find myself up in that direction visiting my sister near Goshen and have often wondered if there was anything. From the sounds of it there isnt, but maybe you are trying to create some sort of revival?  I would make a trip out of your exhibit but unfortunatly I will be traveling in the other direction for a wedding on Long Island that weekend.  |
