Hey all, i just received some Arganier tree seeds in a trade and wondered whether it was suitable for Bonsai?

looking at pictures of full grown specimins on google, i would say there is no harm in having a go! and if it doesnt work, what have you wasted? just a bit of space in the greenhouse, so youve got nothing to loose.
i honestly have never seen one before, but can only guess. i guess im kind of reckless with trees, ill try anything even if i have read it wont work. or maybe im just stubbourn?

I will get the bloody thing to work!!!! GROW!!!!! WHY WONT YOU GROW!!!!!

hee hee.

so, what are these trees like? where are they local to? iv got a lot of seelings on the go, i have many years left in bonsai so ive got plenty of time to watch them grow and develop them how i want too. Ive got this brilliant method for getting seeds to germinate, and somehow it always works. here goes...

i brought a cheap(ish) plastic propagator, drilled some holes in the bottom and filled it with compost. then, i bung in as many seeds as i have at the time. and then i wait.

i usually set it up around this time of year, repotting those which have grown and recycling the compost from previous years incase any of the seeds are taking their time. i get a good yield this way, more than i know what to do with!

Im the same with seeds, i trade for a lot of them i believe the tree is native to Morocco, not sure what it is like, the images on google kind of remind me of a plains tree of something like that though.

i thought that too, it would probly be best suited to the umbrella style, sitting on a slab. maybe with some little plastic giraffes sitting in the pot with them for that propper african feel!

Umbrella Definitely, not a great fan of plastic lol me thinks i would have to have rock imported to make it look real because its tricky to get hold of that reddish sand stone over here, will look when i go to John Hanbys in november.
