Hi Buzzy,
I've never sprouted Apricot seeds, but I read recently on the forum about some fruit seeds being easy to sprout, just wash them off and plant'em. The sooner you get them in the ground from the time you take them from the fruit the better, from what I remember. Hope this helps.

Hi all,
I haven't tried Apricot seeds, but Peaches are quite easy. I just stick them in the ground when I eat a Peach and many of them sprout. I kinda lose track of when I put them in the ground and how long they've been there, but I do know I've had a lot of Peach seedlings available to me over the years. I think they are better candidates for Bonsai than the ones I see in the nursery because of the problems that grafting produces with the trunks. They grow quite rapidly. Fred |

I have 2 apricots grown from seeds. not as a bonsai but planted in the ground. They should be able to sproute in the ground. Mine are about 7 ft now about 4 years old They seem to bloom late if grown from seed, but should produce lots of fruits. hopfully this summer it blooms not sure.
So I don't think it needs any special treatment to sprout. mine were grown in the ground. bass |

Buzzy, I wish someone would have stopped me from starting apricot seeds so long ago... It was the summer of 89 and I got the bug for bonsai. As I had a tree right there in the yard why not right. Well I started some and sold a bunch at our local club. We are all still waiting for our first flower let alone a fruit. I ll never live it down. Moral of the story, spend a couple of buck for a known cutivar or go for the ume, or live in shame.

Well, I don't know anything about Apricots, but as for Apples, I can report that a few years ago I started an Apple tree from seed that was producing EXCELLENT apples in about 5 years. Can't say about Peaches; never had one long anough to begin producing fruit.
