I discussed this topic with Daniel Robinson yesterday. I mentioned to him about the tree John mentioned. Which has passed on. Keeping BC here is rather difficult and that particular tree just didn't make it. HOWEVER... Daniel did keep the stump at his home for posterity (it's a rather interesting stump). So i can get photos of it at some point.

He did say that you should indeed approach graft branches onto BC knees to create some very interesting and gnarly looking trees. He suggested , as has already been suggested, to reduce the roots to the knee and attempt to produce a more compact root ball while approach grafting the branches to them.

So someone give it a try. it can happen its root tissue. Even tho it may not sucker doesn't mean it can't sustain life. Callus tissue has no latent buds but it too sustains life.... the worse that could happen is it dies.... either way... you find out.

Not sure ne one cares..... but i did my part

Vic,
You might enjoy this "saga" on my old, out of date, site.
Go to "articles" and then to "Bald Cypress Collecting Mardi Gras Style"

P.S. The other articles are pretty good also!

Well I care. That is the reason I started this post.

Thank you. I too hope someone will at least give it a try.

Thank you for checking with Robinson.
