Respectfully...This is a real nice site but I'm looking for some Bonsai forums that are pretty busy. I didn't notice the inactivity when I posted another thread. Any great forums would be appreciated! Thanks!

Inactivity? LOL, it's all relative, but this is by far the most active bonsai forum I've found.

Respectfully, you will probably not find a better, more responsive forum than this one.

You have apparently posted a single question and it's on a rather obscure topic. Desert roses aren't classic, or even much used, bonsai material. Sometimes, you are on your own with some species and their use as bonsai. Others have little experience with the specifics of them in a bonsai container.

Also, sometimes the basics that are used in common bonsai species are still pertinent to exotic species like desert rose. You want thick surface roots, try the methods used to develop the same kinds of roots on other species. Might work, might not, probably will since the growing principals are the same.

i think this forum is far more active than others i've seen. howeve, I would also reccomend checking out the www.internetbonsaiclub.org

you'll see some familiar names from this forum, but i think there are a lot more postings of exhibits worldwide, and many more threads by walter pall.

Solution: join both.

There are several other forums out there that are more active. A lot of useless prattle on them but still more active.

Why one would want more posts with less useful information is beyond me.

As i post it stands at 5 responses in little over twenty minutes. If that isn't active enough maybe you should take up ice hockey

This site does go through peaks and troughs of activity depending on the time of day and the subjects being posted. Try posting a thread about bonsai not being art with political undertones and a few personal attacks on people with out mentioning any names. It's like sticking your tackle in a hornets nest! lol.

Hi Bonz,

This is one of the busiest around and certainly has the largest membership.

Just do not give up hope and try here . . . . . I've just bumped up your original post.

Regards,
Ian.

When you post about a species that most people don't use, or are unfamiliar with, you may not receive responses. People hesitate to give advice on species that they haven't worked with. Wrong advice is never good advice.

There are several other forums out there, and you can try them. But when you have another question, maybe about something more common, come back and post here again. You'll get a lot of good answers.

honestly, BT (BonsaiTalk) is by far #1 in my book. You could goto a different Forum where activity is key...but what if that activity has little to no experience or knowledge? I would hate to see your head filled with nonsense or TOO-unorthadox techniques that would make Walter Pall cringe. You can even join the chatter boxes in the afternoons/evenings and have a blast BSing and talking tree...or pots...or wood carvings. in all seriousness you will find none better then us here at BT.
