I found this french site. It describes the construction of another model of turntable.

Quite the fancy unit. I'm not sure I'd want one with all the tilting going on while I work on a tree, maybe later for display...?

Well the tilting of course is essential if a new potting position is desired, one can tilt the tree, style it and mark its position and then repot in the correct orientation. This seems like a great deal of preparation to replace simple wooden wedges. However, I might be persuaded to buy one of these if I saw it in action.

For tilting, I use some of the bags that lead shot (used for reloading shotgun shells) comes in. I have two of them, each a litle more than 1/2 full of coarse lava bonsai soil (much lighter than sand).
I can stick these under the tree and secure the tree to my Mechanical coordinators turntable with bungee cords. to keep it in position. This is more adaptable than wedges, IMHO. This seems to me to be less cumbersome than the albeit ingenious system of squares and wedges. Chacun a son gout! |

I was actually toying with the idea of making a turntable that I would mount to the swivel base of an old bar stool I have.
The one shown here is cool, but I don't think I would go to all that trouble for the tilting. Bart, I like using the lava idea instead of the wedges... I'll have to give that a shot Adam |

Hi Adam,
