Another question about Tanyosho Pine
I recently acquired ths tree in a nursery pot. Now it's Fall and it's still in the nursery pot. As I understand froma previouspost, this pine is a graft on JBP stock.
Since the days are getting shorter and the temps cooler, is now a good time to put it in an aquatic plant basket with bonsai soil to over-winter? Or is it safer to wait until spring? The basket will be covered in mulch for winter, as would the nursery pot. Just thinking about getting a head start.

Sure - now is as good a time as any. Just don't try doing any root work. Simply remove from the nursery pot and place in the basket making sure not to pot deeper than it was in the nursery can. Backfill with soil and enjoy.

Thanks! I'm anxious to see where the roots are as the standard is planted very deep in a 5 gallon pot. Hoping they are already spread without much of a tap!
I kow this is not the ideal bonsai tree, but it's got a good shape at the top and I think holds some promise for imitating a Mediterranean pine.

Hey J any chance of a pic ?
BTW what part of Georgia are you from, i'm right outside of Athens, in Danielsville, or D'ville as it's known around here, while some refer to it, simply as, "The D". LOL
