American Chestnut

I just read an interesting story about potential reforestation of the American Chestnut. Granted this may not make the best bonsai, but its a tree species that was near extinction found to be growing well, and possibly more resistant to problems that plagued its ancestors.

I came into this thread ready with the "don't let anybody tell you not to do it becase of the leaves" lol.

Its good to see that the species is still around (i wasn't aware of its existence) and blights like that show that it's not just humans that cause extinction. i think i'm turning all conservationist in my garden, growing rare trees to ensure their survival. If they just so happen to end up as food for my bonsai appetite, it's not my fault! lol

Thanks,

Al
