What type of plant do i have?

I just got a plant from a local nursrey and on the I.D. tag it said "varigated umbrella plant". After some research on the internet i figured out what a varigated plant was, but i did not find any thing on plain old umbrella plants. I found out there are several types of umbrella plants and now i dont know how to care for my plant. I will post some pictures when i find my camera but for the time being...CAN ANYBODY HELP ME!?!? please i dont want my little plant to die

The name for the umbrella is Schefflera.Try searching for that, also Fukubonsai.com is a good place to research as they have some articles there aswell as the pics.

You can get away with a few different styles with a sheff. Most of the Japanese bonsai rules won't work for them since they are primarly used for shaping conifers. But you can do cascades, banyans, sumo, informals, tanuki etc...
Doubtful anyone here can really help you with styling with out a pic of your tree to see first.I'm guessing you have seen some pics of scheffs now and thats what you have?

My advice would be place in a bigger pot to allow it to grow more. You can try Root over rock. I have a couple scheffleras that I have done that with.
