What Makes It A Bonsai

Well, folks..
this is my first post ever.
Im 17.. turn 18 in a few days..
I have a juniper that i bought on the side of the road.
Its 4 year birth day is coming up, or is third?
i will have had it one year in dec. It growing great! I just have one question about it tho. Just about 1 month ago these little green specs starting going out of the dirt, The look like very small juniper leaves. or grass? ill see if i can take a pic later.. Is this good? should i let them grow?

Also, what makes teh trees stay so small? is it just the pot, restricting the roots? can any tree be a bonsai tree buy just puttin it in a small pot? im new at thig guys
C-ya later

I think your question is #5 on this page

More information in the ***FAQ***

It sounds like you have weeds or something, but without a photograph, only time will tell.

Good luck with your juniper,

Matt

Sorry Harrison, I don't know what they are, or what they look like, so I can't make any suggestions as to what you should do with them, whether it's moss or something else. If you get that camera working I will be sure to have another look.

In the meantime, there are links to some common weeds in my Journal, entry #16. Scotch and Iris "moss" are common. They look similar as they develop like little * points on the soil surface. Most people consider them invasive weeds in bonsai and desirable groundcover in the landscape.

Regards,

Matt
