Spooky, I feel very sorry for you if this is all you have to do to occupy yourself. I have NEVER defamed any nursery, Victorian or otherwise. If any Victorians were offended that I saw a bonsai glued on a rock without wire, then I am deeply sorry. If anyone is offended that I wont name the nursery, who I did not defame, then I am very sorry. So what if a nursery you are a customer at glues bonsai on a rock, it doesnt mean that their other stuff is no good or glued or whatever. It is no wonder that people prefer not to post on here when everything they say gets twisted around because some people would just like to argue and argue. If I had no values/morals I would go to Kmart and send you a photo of the tag, and next time you like to attack my values on the behalf of Victoria please feel free to send me a pm which is where grievances should be aired, not in a public forum where people , like myself, come to, to read and relax.

no more from me
have a happy day
Callie

Hey Flybri, the bonsai nursery I was refering to is called Bonsai Art Nursery in
236 Old Dandenong Road, Heatherton. The have a very large display and the owner is extremely knowledgeable and approachable.

Just to add 2 cents worth, over the few years of being afflicted by this obsession, I've had the opportunity to work with bonsai both as a buyer and manufacturer. Its an unfortunate fact of life that for these bonsai nurseries to survive, they have to produce and sell most of their stock as "commercial bonsai", ie, the little tree in a pot that we have all seen and sometimes cringe at. The market is just not there to be able to stay in business by selling "BONSAI", not sure about the rest of you but I certainly cant afford to spend thousands of dollars on a tree each week or month, and sadly thats what it would take for a nursery to stay in business, if they could get the quality stock to sell.

Callie, I for one was not offended by your comments, its an unfortunate fact of life when commercial bonsai is concerned

Everyone, please, enjoy the journey that is bonsai and as you said Callie, have a great day.

Ok, Callie, now I will ask you to refrain from and apologise for making personal attacks against me.

On the issue of glued bonsai:

Forgive me, if I am a bit more optimistic about changing things. After all, campaigns and alternate technologies have managed to impact, for example, recycling practices. Might not there be an alternate to the objectionable glue used to secure mass-produced bonsai trees that doesn't undermine nursery profit margins? One that biodegrades after a suitable time? Possibly another thread is needed for that discussion. I'll go start one now.

We don't need to go further with this discussion of any specific nursery, please.

Go hug your trees, guys. And gals.

Glen Waverley Bonsai is closer to Ringwood

Glen Waverley Bonsai is closer to Ringwood, but I would recommend Bonsai Northwest....sorry....but I think it is the Best Club in Victoria at the moment.
