I am new to bonsai trees and I have brought a Serissa, Thousand-Star tree, and am wanting to prune it, I have looked into pruning and it says there are different ways to prune my tree whether it is an evergreen or a deciduous.
This is my Question... is my Serissa, Thousand-Star a deciduous tree?? Plz Help...as my tree really needs pruning. Thank You, David |

Serissa is an evergreen shrub, so it will ordinarily hold onto leaves year round.
It would be very difficult to suggest what you need to do to prune it without seeing a photograph. It would be like telling you how to remove your appendix blindfolded, (assuming you still have an appendix that needs removing) and that is more than we know about your tree at this time! If you can post a photo maybe we can make some suggestions. Otherwise it is generally safe to restore the outline of the plant by using a sharp scissor to trim back any branches that extend outside the silhouette. Try not to cut through leaves, but between them. This is very simplified, but a good place to start. Regards, Matt.
