Training Weeping fig with multiple trunks???
We are new to bonsai. My husband just bought an 18" weeping fig plant and wants to train it into a bonsai. It has multiple trunks. Should he cut off all but one trunk or leave them on an train it to be an ikadabuki bonsai.

Re: Training Weeping fig with multiple trunks???
Hi Zinnia,
Why not enjoy it with several trunks for awhile, and see how you feel about it? You can always reduce the number, but it's hard to add trunks back Ficus and schefflera can look especially good with multiple trunks. Here is a schefflera from the ***GALLERY*** [img:9b66cd9acd]http://www.memobug.com/if/gallery/bonsai/GSBF_2000/Dsc_0060_sm.jpg[/img:9b66cd9acd]

Re: Training Weeping fig with multiple trunks???
Matt, Thanks so much for posting that picture, it's what we needed to see to envision what the ficus would look like with multiple trunks, that is a gorgeous bonsai! We will definitely take your advice and keep all the trunks. Thanks again.
