Time to pinch Japanese Yew?
Have a large "Japanese Yew," loaded with buds. Can I pinch back yet? Want to keep foliage tight and neat, small..... thanks.

You can discriminate the new growth because it will be a different texture and color - lime green emerging from a darker green branch. Then go in and pinch out most of the tip. If it tears on you you're too early.
If you have pets or kids, watch where you put your Taxus trimmings. Most parts of the plant are highly toxic. Regards, Matt
