Hi xFusion:

Hard to tell you much without a picture. The needles do harden off over time as the wood matures into twigs, so your description could be normal. Branches can be shed if you don't have enough light. So many possibilities.

i have two junipers that are all brown because I forgot to water them after a holiday. They cooked under the hot summer sun...but now I'm just giving it some water and slowly feeding it to give the leaves back some vigor. I would say not to over water just because its brown...but just keep giving it what it needs slowly.
