root madness

hi guys, i picked up my new calliandra powderpuff and fukien tea at the post office today. they came intact, thankfully. the tea seemed to be alright, just needed a little watering, i think. but the powderpuff brought me to my attention. the soil was very how do u say it, "together". i mean, i lifted the tree up a little and the tree and the soil itself, in the shape of the pot, came out the plastic pot. and all i see is many many roots wrapped all over the soil. now i read that rooting pruning is a very difficult thing and can be lethal to the tree also. my question is, how am i to go about this; repot soon? what kind of soil? how to prune roots? i wish i had pictures to show. i appreciate any advice. thanks

Demilot, are you still out there? You didn't get answered. I'm bumping this up in case someone can help you.

I'm afraid I don't have any experience with either tree, but I don't think now is the best time to repot. Typically you want to wait until late winter to do it. So unless the tree looks like it's going to die, I would suggest a lot of reading on the subject until the time is right (I would make a recommendation, but I'm far from being an expert). Good luck with them
