repotting

Hey,

I have had my boxwood bonsai for five months now, and have had an awesome time watching it grow! I have been told that now is the ideal time to repot it, but I dont really know what to do... is there anyone out there that could help me?

Thanks!

Lary

Re: repotting

Hi Larissa,

There is some information on repotting in the ***FAQ*** and also in the general folder there is an article with pictures under "maple repot" and now a video on the same subject. These should get you through the basics.

The first time is sort of trial-by-fire, but a book may be helpful. There are a number of books you can find in the library on bonsai, or you can check Amazon.com the Sunset book is a good one for beginners.

If you have any questions after looking this stuff over, just ask. It's like painting a house, the better prepared you are with your tools and supplies, the easier it goes.

One thing you are sure to have questions about is what kind of soil to use. You can mix your own or buy something commercially prepared, like the Whitney Farms Bonsai Soil. I find that it has a little bit too much peat in it, but that's just my preference.

Regards,

Matt.
