Red shaded elm chinese leaves

My elm has been leafing out for about two weeks. Started out all green, but now the some leaves are turning a shade of red. Id say about 40% of the leaves are showing some of the red color. Could this be from too much sun or what?

Nip

Probably not too much sun at this time in early spring.
Did it get some frost on it?
I also live on the "3rd coast" and I had to protect all my deciduous trees due to the heavy frost that came in after they all started growing (budded out).

You gotta protect it from the cold fronts that blow in after they start growing (the rule of thumb is anything below 40F degrees).

Can you post a pic of it?

Good luck, redhawk

Nope, no frost. Closest we got was about 35F and I brought it in that night. Its still growing so I assume its not a big problem. The pic is not clear, but you can see the hint of redness.

I get this

I have a chinese elm that I bring in just before first snowfall and any of the newer leaves will sometimes do this. Its been doing it for 3 years now and the tree still grows slowly indoors and goes nuts when its outside and is an over all healthy tree. Im not too worried about it as it seems to have something to do with aclimation (?sp). If someone has an answer I would like to hear it also.
