overwatered?

I have two bonsais. I had a bought dwarf juniper at Lowes for $4.95 just to learn with. I am really not to worried about this plant however, my other plant I am very fond of. It is a Golden Gate Ficus that I had purchased from a nusery. So anyway I have been watering them about every three days for around 15 mins. They sit right by a window all day and are doing very well. However....as a idoit I went to water them before I went to the gym and forgot to take them out before I had left. Will this hurt the plants... and is there anything I should do?

Take the Juniper outside, they will not live long inside.

Do not water by your schedule, instead water by the tree's schedule. The juniper should be allowed to get almost dry before watering. The fig just slightly moister.

The advice Will gave was correct. However, to more directly answer your question...no, one instance of "overwatering" shouldn't hurt the trees.

In addition, you should also begin watering with a fine nozzle hose or watering can, instead of always submerging the pots. Constantly submerging the pots will cause salt deposits to build up in the soil, which could harm your trees. Watering by pouring or spraying water on the top of the soil, and letting it drain through to the bottom, will flush these nasties out, as well as provide needed oxygen to the roots.

Regards,
John
