Newbie help with ficus

Hi, this is my first post here.

I got this ficus about a year ago (my one and only Bonsai in training), all I did was stick it in a larger pot.

I've been doing some reading and was thinking that I should now put it in a grow box. I live in Sydney Australia and summer has just arrived.

My question is should I do any pruning or wiring at this point, or just let it go crazy for a while? FYI, the first branch on the left hand side points directly to the side, but there is a branch on the right extending to the front. Scale on the left hand side is cm's.

Thanks for any help!

"My question is should I do any pruning or wiring at this point, or just let it go crazy for a while?"

Jason: The answer is, it depends on what you want to do. You can wire and trim to create a different trunk shape, or just let it grow like nuts to build on the shape you have right now.

Remember, trimming and wiring will slow the growth, but also give you more design options. It's a trade-off.

Heres a thread showing development of a small ficus much like yours --- slow going for even a tiny tiny tree.
