leafs burning out
Some of leafs on my serissa are burning out, while most of them are fine, and new ones are constantly growing. I water my tree daily, without over doing it.
Why is this happening, and what can I do to prevent it? Thanx in advance. |

When you say leaves burning out I assume they're turning brown or yellow?
What kind of soil is the tree in, most times if the tree is not in bonsai soil (a free draining soil) the soil stays too wet for too long, therefore if you have a 'non bonsai' soil watering once each day might be over watering. But if you do have a bonsai soil are you making sure that everytime you water the soil is dry? You can stick your finger in about an inch or so and feel around. If things are wet or moist, then water isnt needed; and if the soil is dry, then you should water. This also happens to serissas when they have been moved, or a sudden change in weather conditions. I hope I can answer something through that. LMK us know your situation either way, your setup, etc. Also, dont be afraid to use the search up top for some things! Welcome to bonsaiTALK.com ! -Evan

The tree is still in it's original soil, the soil it was in, when iI bought it, but the weather has been rapily changing in last couple of weeks.
Is this something a should be concerned about, or not? Thanx for the tips. |

Ok, well be sure the soil is moderately dry before everytime you water, this kind of soil can hold water in and sometimes give root-rot (what happened to one of my serissas.) Probably want to repot next spring for sure and maye now if it's not too late. If its the weather thats making these leaves do this, i wouldn't worry. But if its the soil you probably want to repot it into a free draining bonsai soil. Hope this Helps. -Evan

Well I've been thinking about repotting, and as soon as i find a proper pot. I think this one is a bit small, and I want my bonsai to grow a bit bigger.
I'll keep you informed. Thanx brunch ![]() |
