Hi,
you have a nice little juniper there. The yellowing could be one of a few things. Low in Nitrogen is one. Keeping it indoors is another. Please I dont mean to sound like I am preaching, I also learned by making this mistake. I burn piled my first bonsai Juniper by keeping it in the house. Then I learned, I cant do that.
I didnt know Keeping it in the bathroom or any room of the house is a sure fire way to expedite death upon it. Junipers also require a period of dormancy in the winter. (as do all bonsai, even the tropicals. However the tropical care is a bit different in the dormancy area.)
I would get that juniper of yours acclimated to an outdoor position as soon as you can. Then find a book, or search the internet for FAQ care on the species. Good luck. I hope I didnt come off as preachy.
Paul

ps if there are any glued rocks on that soil, remove those as well. They hinder watering, and dont let the soil "breath". It is just a way to keep the tree in the pot, for the quick sell.

yellow tips

I cant see what you are talking about in the pic. maybe a close up of the affected area would help. are you pinching or cutting back to shape your tree?

pdbbonsai hit the most important point. Once it gets back to health you might seriously consider shortening all the very small branches, especially on top. They are getting pretty tall. Just thin it out and cut the branches back leaving small new growth.

For now, as pdb said make sure it's outside, and fertilize it with a dilute solution of a balance fertilizer with iron. Earl

I was afraid to put it outside, because the summers in Las Vegas are pretty harsh. Right now, our daytime temp is about 115-130. I was going to put it out in the fall. Should I put it out now. I also purchsed some of he seaweed treatment that Adam had suggested. Plus I got some other nutrients. I thought that the nutrients might be the cause since my other junipers are doing quite well indoors in the sunlight room. Please help.

Hi, you are correct in being concerned about the extreme temps of your area. Bonsai care CAN NOT be generalized for all locations. It can not even be grouped as to warm weather and cold weather climates. You are in a very unique area, as to temps and weather. You need to follow advise from someone who has knowledgeable about ultra high temperature areas.... not me!

I have heard of individuals in hot climates who use shade cloth and misting systems to aid their trees in living in their climate. I think you can grow trees in Vegas.... its just a challenge! But then again so can growing trees in the north east. And yes, outside is best...

When you obtain any new trees, try and get a tree(type) that is growing outside in your area. Native trees are best but those that have proven to adapt to the area are also good. Bonsai do require more attention then trees in the ground, but if it is growing around you it will be a good choice for Bonsai.

Good luck and try contacting a club if you can find one near you.
I found the info below with a google search perhaps that will be helpful! I do not have personal knowledge of this group!

The Las Vegas Bonsai Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Nevada Garden Club Center, 3333 W. Washington Ave. "How to Create a Forest-Style Bonsai" will be demonstrated 257-4768
