Japanese Maples in zone 5
I live in zone 5 in extreme southeastern Michigan (Monroe County). I am interested in Japanese Maples. My question is, is this area ok for raising Japanese Maples?
Thanks. |

Japanese maples grow very well in zone 5( I'm in northwest Indiana). I have several different cultivars and all seem to do quite well with no stress winter or summer. martin |

Re: Japanese Maples in zone 5
Count your self lucky, you have about 300 cultivars of maple that will most all thrive in your zone. To get an idea of the number of cultivars find the book Japanese Maples by J. D. Vertrees Now let the hunt begin. For your yard for bonsai for patio trees japanese maples will give you a lifetime of pleasure.

Joboo and Rips,
Thanks for the feedback. I am looking forward to growing these trees. They have been a favorite of mine for some time. |
