japanese maple in English winter
Hi, I am a complete novice to Bonsai and would like some help with my recently purchased very young Acer Palmatum. I have kept it outside all summer and would like to know how I can protect it from frost in the winter. I live in the South-East of England where winters are usually mild with occasional frost (approx -5 degrees C). As it is in a shallow dish, how do I protect the roots from frost damage when necessary
??Thanks for any help! |

-5 C. won't be a problem for your tree. Just set the pot on the ground and mulch over the top and around the sides of the pot. More important is to keep strong winds off of the trunk and branches. You could use an existing wall or you could erect a wind block.
