YOU CAN NOT RUSH TIME
|
Re: Indoor Junipers?
Bill... Don't be fooled. Yes, they can survive inside for a couple of years. They will not be happy in the long run! Think about it, a Human can go a couple of days with sleep... can you live forever without sleep? You can live for a while without food or even water..... can you live forever without?
Stay with a regime of never wintering the junipers and someday you may say, "Why is it doing so poorly?"

Re: Indoor Junipers?
Jay I use my sister in-law as an example of a beginer being able to do it . juniper was the first bonsai i ever started thats all my grandfather would let me do 20 years ago and I have had great sucess with them they do require more attention inside but that is the chalange.+in south Florida our winters are wormer then the average house hold temp.My grand father kept me in the dark on most bonsai books ,videos, shows etc. but that was his way its great being able to talk with others seing all I missed and have yet to learn.

Re: Indoor Junipers?
It is certainly possible to grow junipers indoors but for most people it is more trouble than it's worth. *A forced air heating system will zap a juniper quicker than anything. *The dry air pulls the moisture out of the needles quicker than the root system can replace it. *That's especially true for the mallsia that so many ask about because they have little in the way of a root system to begin with. I suspect that living in south florida you don't use the heater very often and maybe even have your windows open much of the year. That is my advice to people that have no other option but inside. *Open the windows turn on a fan and put a grow light above the juniper. Of coarse this can get a little rough if you live in zone 4.
