Huh? ID this Azalea?

Hi there!

I got this azalea from homeDepot and it is missing it's name tag. I tried to match the leaves to other azaleas with name tags but none matches. Every other azaleas there have more roundish leaves than the one I bought.

Anyone has any idea what azalea it is? evergreen or deciduous? etc.

Hi there! Welcome to the forum! If you'll take a moment to fill in your User CP (upper left on the banner above) we can know exactly where you are, and perhaps give you more specific information.
There is also a way to attach images to each post, this way they dont take so long to load.
I'm sure maybe someone will know.

Looking at its leaves, bark, and the way it grows, it could be part of the 'Arononense' group of azaleas.

You could take a look over at the Azalea Society of America and see if they have the info you need.

Oh yeah, and it is evergreen...

I've sent you a private message with the tutorial on photo loading...

You live in Pasadena, CA... are you coming to Winter Silhouettes? It's Jan 21-22 at the Arboretum in Arcadia. It's a beautiful show.

Where is the arboretum that you are talking about? I work close to Pasadena and would enjoy a chance to see some good bonsai.

(grin) Here's a chance to point out something neat on the forum that you may not know about...

Go to the "calendar" link above in the banner (what?? You didn't know that there was a calendar here??) You will see January displayed, and click on "Winter Silhouettes" for the weekend of 21-22. You will see all of the information displayed.

Cool, isn't it?

Paul runs the calendar, and anyone can put their event up so that others can find the information.

Probably a girard hybrid with magenta flowers. I say this not because I can identify the species, but because that's only type of azalea they seem to sell.

But yeah, you'll be better able to tell what it is when it flowers
