I need help with my new tree

Hi , I got my Bonsai tree on thursday. I have had it in my room near a window where it is colder. i have been misting it but i haven't watered/soaked it yet until today when i noticed some of the foliage was tuning a light brown almost yellow color. Did this happen because of the lack of watering or because it needs to be outside. Its rather cold out and i am afraid that it the temp. will drop too low for the tree. i think it is a Juniper. Please help me..i don't want my tree to be sick! Danielle

Re: I need help with my new tree

Hi There Danielle,

Your tree would start to dry out in three days indoors in a heated room without water, but juniper probably wouldn't show the effects of that for a couple of weeks. *If you bought this plant from a reputable dealer or even a mall or nursery that stands behind their product, it would be worth taking it back to get an opinion.

Without seeing the tree it would be hard for anyone to speculate. *One thing you should be sure to do is read the section in our bonsai FAQ on watering. *You'll find it from the home page by clicking in the upper right on "read the bonsaitalk faq"

Some starter bonsai (we call them mallsai) were grown in greenhouses then shipped to distributors where they may or not be watered much for weeks. *Then someone buys them and gets them home and they might already be stressed.

If you can borrow a digital camera, take a photo and post it here. *Then we can give you more help. *

Regards,

Matt
