Holiday Bonsai Gift
Hi, I have been given a Bonsai for a present. I am delighted. I do not have any knowledge of these beautiful trees. The leaves are beginning to fall off. The only information I have is it originates from Guangdong Province, China.
It's approximately 7/8 years old and "Carmona microphylla" is on the little instuction label which is so small I can not read it. Can you please advise me? Thank you. Maureen |

Re: Holiday Bonsai Gift
Hi Maureen,
Carmona is an older name for a genus now known as Ehretia. The common name of the plant is "Fukien Tea." You can find some general care information on the BCI species page here This is one of the few species that you would probably want to overwinter indoors unless you are in a very mild climate without frost. Please also take a look on this board in the section labeled bonsai FAQ for the information about watering.
