Tap water should be fine. If your tap water has lots of minerals in it, you may want to flush out your soil every once in a while with bottled water.

Hey BAS
If you can drink the tap water , and you , or your Apt . Complex is using it for the landscape , it shouldn't be any problem for your Bonsai. R |

A water arguement? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooo
Rainwater, tapwater, aquarim and pond water is all good. No need to use purified water at all.

Hey sniper, there was a really long and informative thread on this subject a while back, if you search for it it will shed a lot of info on water! As i am rapidly beggining to learn virtually everything you could ask has been asked and answered here before, it's really helpful!

i have heard not to use tap water but i use it in the winter with no ill effects, but in the summer i use regular rain water or just the water from the hose. unless there is a lot of chlorine or some thing in it it will be fine. and yes softened water will leave white spots but they r not harmful to the plant just an eyesore is all.

Here is my 2 cents. If you have a water softener. Split the supply line off to a feed so that you can obtain water that hasn't been softened. The sodium and calcium content in softened water ( at least mine ) is usally pretty high. Due to the salt being added to the softener, and we all know salt build up is a no-no.
I would also add that if you ever compare trees watered with rain water and ( in my case ) well water. There is a difference, not a knock you down slap myself on the forehead difference ... but a difference.
