Question Good Species For USDA 4 (Sydney)

I live in Sydney, which is USDA 4. What species would thrive best in my area and conversely, which species would be difficult to grow?

I think you misfigured. Your probably equivalent to a USDA zone 10 maybe 11.

[EDIT] ooops - already answered!

Anyway:

Here's a map with a chart that converts the Australian metric zones to their USDA equivalents.

http://www.anbg.gov.au/hort.research/zones.html

And another that shows some of the major cities in case you're lost

http://www.lonelyplanet.com/mapshel...a/australia.htm

So Sydney would be somewhere around USDA 10

In practice, the zones only tell you average minimum temperature. Since you're typically above freezing you shouldn't run into problems with hardiness for even semi-tropical plants.

Regards,

Matt

Sorry guys, I misread the chart and used the Australian zones. What species would be best for USDA 10?
