Excuse me (I'm very new at this), but when you said 10-20-10, 10-10-10, 20-20-20, or 7-7-7; what are you talking about. I haven't been doing this long enough to have had to fertilize my tree, but I probably need to know...

Basically its like this
Nitrogen-Phosphorus-Potassium

Nitrogen is for leaf and stem growth
Phosphorus is for Root and bud development/growth
Potassium is for Flower and fruit development/growth

Thank You Fred,

You all are being so nice by answering my ??. I read your postings and look at your galleries on a daily basis. It's fun and I'm learning everyday! About your soil recipe - Can I get this stuff at a regular garden center?

Lesley

I would like very much to look at Fred's galleries, where are they?

So the numbers, do they stand for granules, tablespoons, teaspoons, cups, what? If you don't mind me asking...

Diamond lyme,
I know you have alot of enthusiasm for bonsai. But you need to educate yourself.

Start with
:http://forum.bonsaitalk.com/forumdi...p?s=&forumid=24

Go to the library (barnes and noble) and read some bonsai books.

Read old threads at this site. Get busy my friend!

I read everything on fertilizing in the FAQ's, and I think I get the number thing, but I'm still not sure on it, so I'm going to check. When you say 7-7-7, you mean that Nitrogen is 7% of the total weight, Phosphorous is 7% of the total weight, and Potassium is 7% of the total weight. I still have one question though, when you buy a fertilizer does it already have set NPK levels, meaning that if you want 10-20-10 and 7-7-7 you must buy 2 different fertilizers, or is it something that you must mix yourself to control the percentage levels.

Sorry to ask so many questions, I'm just still confused after reading all the FAQ's.
