Getting confused

My serissa is growing fast, too fast, should I be pruning this tree regularly or just once a year?

I want one area of the tree to grow downwards to begin it's transformation to a cascade but the upper part I think can stay the size it is. But the thing is growing new shoots everywhere. Not that I am complaining I was just wanting to know if its a normal practice to continually prune during the growing season.

here's a link to a picture of it

Normal practice with a serissa is to prune regularly until it dies, which is usually 2-4 weeks after purchase.

Best regards,
Carl

Carl,
would that mean that the "normal practice" is wrong?

Not at all - simply a quip about the usual misfortune that people have with serissa.

Best regards,
Carl

Dave:

What Carl is saying in an offhand way is that serissa are notoriously fussy. I myself have given up on them ages ago, pesky little things.

But if your is growing strongly, you should be able to control the growth by cutting off the growing tips to direct the growth elswhere.

Dave, serissa does well for some people and not for others. Probably the climate. Here, in So. Calif, they seem to do pretty well. If yours is growing vigorously, you can trim them on a regular basis.
