This is very true about the climate, as i come from Scotland, they don't like my outside conditions, too variable.
It's a bit of a toss up between a Serissa and Fukien being the hardest to grow inside, for me. Cheers.

Fukien Tea Problems

Hi Guys,
Yes, a tropical climate is helpful for raising tripicals...no doubt about it. I may be moving to the smokey mountains in a year or two and that could change everything. But, they do not die from moderately cold weather. People tend to treat them like they are fragile, they are not.

As I have stated before, we do get cold temperatures here in the winter. Freezes and frost are not uncommon and temps in the low 40's and high 30's very common. My tropicals are moved to little flat bed wagons in the winter so they can be moved in case of freeze or frost warnings. I never move them if the weatherman is calling only for high 30's or warmer. They sit out and are not harmed. And the ones in the ground by the house are NEVER covered or moved. They are doing just fine.

Put your Fukies out for the summer and let them be out when ever the temps allow. During colder times when there is no doubt they would die, bring them in and keep them in a well lit window.
Good luck.
