Chinese cypress? That's a new one on me.

Formal upright rules are pretty straight forward though. : The tree should have good surface roots radiating from the base of the trunk. The trunk itself should be straight with a constant taper [no buldges or reverse taper]. The first branch should be placed at 1/3 of the total height of the tree. Branches should be placed in a 1,2,3 pattern, as in, right, left, back, right, left, back. Lower banches should come off the trunk at a horizontal to slightly downward angle. Primary branches should get shorter and closer together as they progress up the trunk giving a conical shape to the tree. Formal upright is the basic conifer style.

I have removed the hotlink to that domain. There are currently 30 hijacked bonsaiTALK images on that webmaster's domains and he's gone so far as to edit our copyright and logo off the stolen images.

If you want to visit, you can cut & paste the URL, and realize that there is a good chance you are looking at the fruit of someone else's labor.

Regards,

Matt

Don't sweat it. There is no problem linking to any offsite source of bonsai information. This site is the one exception because I can't condone what's going on there. Aside from our own content, there is stuff there that I KNOW came from other places, so this seems the only reasonable compromise.

Regards,

Matt
