FERTILIZING

should you wait until the soil is not moist before you fertilize. my book says to fertilize my plant once a month in the winter, and every 2 weeks during growing season. but i need to know if i should fertilize next time i'm going to water or now. also, any suggestions on how to make the fertilizer mix, i know i won't need a gallon, and thats what the directions on the fertilizer have directions to make.

sorry if i sound ignorant, but i'm new to this.

thanks in advance.

Re: FERTILIZING

They way I do it is.
When it is time to fertilize. I let my tree dry on top somewhat, because you must always water very well after feeding your trees/plants. It has worked fine for me. That's what I do, hope it helps you.

Re: FERTILIZING

When you mix your furtalizer for bonsai remember that less is better cut your recomended strength in half or even less. The reason is this you will be using your furtalizer more often so it is a little bit and then a little bit and so on. Your tree will use what it wants and the rest is just washed away. There is also the danger of furtalizer burn. This is when you use too much and kill all of the little rootlets that the tree lives on. So.... my advice is less more often is better. If your tree is dormant it will require little or no furealizer.
