YOU CAN NOT RUSH TIME

Re: dead bonsi
Sherry....sorry if its dead....its dead! But..if its in shock it may come back (read may). What kind of tree was it. so we can give you the best advise...and where are you geographically, again for advise.
A quick check is to scrape the trunk in a very small way and see if you see green....Green is life! Good luck and come back to us with info J

Re: dead bonsi
Hi Sherry
Be sure the next one has a generous-sized pot. It's hard to water a tree in a small pot properly until you get the hang of it. There are some beginner tips in bonsaiTALK Links and a little info in the ***FAQ***, but that is being reworked now. Regards, Matt

Re: dead bonsi
Sherry, My advice would be to get a tree that is hardy to your climate and grow it outside. Growing trees inside brings on a whole new set of problems and it's not easy to do.

Re: dead bonsi
I bought a tree for my dad as a Christmas present and it looks like it's on it's way out the door. I don't know what kind it is and they seem to be watering it properly and giving it light. The only thing I can say they aren't doing is feeding it fertilizer. I scratched the trunk and don't see green, but the very tips of the farthest leaves are still green. Is it dead Jim?

Dammit Jim, I'm a Doctor, not a magician!
If an alien were to read this thread he might believe that a bonsai enjoys curling up by the fireside and having its trunk scratched ![]() You don't say what kind of tree you have there, Wycen, but chances are pretty good that "out the door" is where it actually belongs. Most trees thrive in the sunshine and breeze If you can post a pic, or at least tell us what kind it is we can be more specific. Otherwise it's all guesswork and I think this tree has had enough of that! Regards, Matt

Re: dead bonsi
I keep a semi-shady corner of the yard for what I call the graveyard. If something looks dead, I plant it in the ground, and give it a full season. If it comes back, great! If not, lawn mower time!
