Looks like elm to me. There are countless varieties. Some are hybrids and some are genetic sports.

I keep it indoors all the time, but from now on it goes fine. But i thought that this tree could handle some low temps. But i think you should wait for someone with more knowledge to answer.

It's doing fine indoors i guess too, it isn't a hard tree.

good luck

Some people will argue that chinese elms can be an indoor tree. I think in the long run indoors will not be good for the tree. It would be helthier and happier outside. As far as wintering goes, elms are pretty hardy and can stay outside all year in my area. Although, I am going to build a mini green house to keep them protected from harsh winds and other disasterous weather. Elms do need a cold dormant period of at least three months. So once again, indoors would not be good during the winter. You could even put these guys in an unheated garage or something. Dormant deciduous trees do not need light, so even a dark shed would do the trick. I dont know what the weather is like where you live, so you might want to do more research.

here in Finland the weather is around 0 to -30 celcius in the winter. I have an unheated garage but it does not share a wall with the house so it might be too cold for the elm...

I think I will keap my chinese elm indoors in about +17 to +19 celsius, because if I try it I will attleast know. And no watering in the winter period. Right?

Thanks for all your help!

I looked around to see what temps they can endure, but everyone was vague. One site said thay can do well down to 20%ferinhight. I don't know if that's acurate. I also don't know what that is in celsius. Trees do need water in the winter also. You would have to water them less often, but they need it. Just keep track of the moister level in the soil. If you keep them outside, don't water them on extreemly cold days. You don't want the water to freez the root system.
