Black Pine Development Help

ok heres the story

was in brisbane a city near me visiting my old granny looked though the yellow pages(phone book) and saw there was a bonsai nursery not far away (or so i thought) drove over took about an hour to get there VERY FRUSTRATING

there were some beautifull trees at this shop and i asked the guy to help pic out one of the best black pines and it ended up it was only 10 bucks bought two just to spend some more money when i finally arived home i realised i knew barely anything about black pines and candle reduction branch growth etc

so any help would be great thx jarryd

ps sorry i dont have a pic havent yet purchased a camera.

Jarryd, there is a terrific website, evergreengardenworks.com, maintained by a guy who is a contributor to this site, that might go a long way towards answering many of your questions. It contains numerous articles, including starting out with Bonsai in general and a couple of very fine articles devoted specifically to JBP. I also find "Bonsai Today" to be a great source of information and inspiration. In my bonsai career, I have also found John Naka's books to be an "Aha" experience for all phases of the "Bonsai Life Cycle". They can be ordered from Bonsaimonk.com.

Sending pictures in can get some good help from this site, but I'd suggest these sources of information as immediate steps towards your objectives.
